Nurses' Pay Vouchers

Pay vouchers for nursing are a crucial source of information about the individuals who nursed Revolutionary War soldiers, but very few survive. Most tend to show payments from local governments rather than the Continental Army itself, as counties and cities often ran their own smallpox hospitals or paid for additional care to supplement the army’s provision.
