Dante [Virtually] at Dartmouth

Danielle Callegari, Dartmouth University

The Dartmouth Dante Project and Dante Lab are pioneering digital humanities platforms designed to expand access to Dante’s Commedia and its commentary tradition. The Dartmouth Dante Project (1988) created a searchable, open-access database of commentaries spanning six centuries, while Dante Lab (2013) introduced an interactive workspace enabling side-by-side comparison of texts, translations, and annotations. Despite aging infrastructures, both projects remain vital scholarly resources whose accessibility, pedagogical value, and potential for future redevelopment underscore their continuing importance within digital Dante studies.
