Bibliotheca Dantesca, Vol. 3

This second volume of Bibliotheca Dantesca brings together a diverse set of contributions that engage Dante’s life, works, and reception from multiple critical angles, foregrounding both historical inquiry and theoretical reflection. Essays address, among other topics, Dante’s political experience and exile, the dynamics of factional conflict in Florence, and the ways in which these biographical and historical conditions inform the imaginative construction of the Commedia. Other articles turn to questions of literary form, intertextuality, and philosophical meaning, exploring themes such as authority, language, and the ethical implications of poetic representation. The volume is further enriched by an interview that offers insight into contemporary approaches to teaching Dante's poem and a report on a recent staging of the Purgatorio that highlights its political remediation through a plurilingual and pluricultural vision of Italy, an emphasis on denouncing domestic violence, and an environmentalist reading aligned with present-day ecological concerns. Together, these elements create a multifaceted issue that not only advances specialized debates but also reflects on the evolving landscape of Dante scholarship.
