Image 3: Krishna’s Worries

Full description
In the painting ‘Krishna’s worries’, the author puts together through a visual language the process of self-construction and reflexivity which she discusses in detail in Modern Dharma: Seeking Family Well-Being in Middle-Class Nepal. The use of non-finito techniques and added keywords contribute to contextualizing Krishna’s story in a fast-changing society where people face dilemmas of choice. The story of Krishna (discussed in chapter 5) involves conflict with his elderly mother and in this particular scene, he is represented in the act of thinking whether he should have moved to live away from the joint household to live separately with his nuclear family following quarrels with his mother and brothers.
