ABOUT THE JOURNAL
The International Journal for Water Equity and Justice (IJWEJ) is an open-access journal promoting scholarly and creative discourse related to global progress and challenges around water equity and justice.
IJWEJ also has a featured blog, IJWEJ Dialog, which aims to provide an additional platform for authors and artists to share their work in this field. The goal is to promote multimodal publications such as photo essays, interviews, and creative, artistic, experimental engagements in this field. Submission of articles and research work in all other languages is welcome for the blog.
The International Journal for Water Equity and Justice (IJWEJ) is co-created by The Water Center at University of Pennsylvania and the Global Water Alliance. It is hosted by the University of Pennsylvania Libraries.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The editorial team of this International Journal acknowledges that we do our work in Lenapehokink, traditional homeland of the Lenape people for tens of thousands of years. The Lenape descendants of the original people include the Delaware Tribe and Delaware Nation of Oklahoma; the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape, Ramapough Lenape, and Powhatan Renape of New Jersey; and the Munsee Delaware of Ontario. Let us pay respect to the historical and ongoing presence of the Lenape and the Nanticoke on this land where we now live, work and celebrate life in all our international relations.
HISTORY OF THE JOURNAL
In 2024, The Journal of Gender and Water (wH2O) underwent a comprehensive rebranding effort. The journal's new name, The International Journal for Water Equity and Justice [IJWEJ], reflects a broader mission to advance scholarship and work that promotes not only gender equity, but also expands its scope to include issues around equitable access to water resources and environmental justice. The reimagined journal will address topics such as water policy, governance, sustainable water management, and the intersection of water and social justice. IJWEJ aims to create conditions for innovation, catalyze theoretical and applied research, and serve as a platform for exchange of information to solve critical water problems. The journal will include original contributions, research, analysis, review, and commentary, as well as multimodal publications such as photo essays and videos.
